We are going to experiment with the King/Queen of The Court play format to try to add a fun competitive twist. King of the Court is an all-level play format that allows players to move from court to court in an organized way based upon whether they win or lose their match. Your goal is to get to the “highest” court to become the King or Queen of the Court!
Simply explained, King/Queen of The Court is an organized play format that works like this. We will spend the first 5-10 minutes warming up on the courts before getting started, as usual, then we will begin following this format.
• Randomize 4 players to each court to get started.
• Each game will be played first to 9. Rally scoring will be used once there is only one court playing to speed up the rounds.
• There will be two 5-minute breaks after game 4 and game 8.
• Total of 10 games, with an optional final if necessary.
• If you WIN your game, you and your partner will move up one court and separate, so you will be on opposing sides for the next game. If you LOSE, you'll move down one court on the other side and split.
• If you are at the highest court and Win, you split and STAY on that court until you lose. If you are on the bottom court and you LOSE, you STAY on that court until you win.
• Scoring will follow a ladder-style format, where players will earn points based on their performance in each match:
1 point for each win on the lowest court.
2 points for each win on the middle court.
3 points for a win on the highest court.
Except for the first round, all wins first round are 2 points.
Climb the ladder, outplay your competitors, and stake your claim to the throne! Only one can emerge as the King/Queen of the Court — will it be you??
