Butte Pickleball History

The Butte Pickleball group started playing at the Whittier courts in 2013 when the first pickleball lines were established on one court. In 2015 the group grew and play continued on a regular basis with both courts being marked with pickleball lines.

In the fall of 2015 a Pickleball league was established in Butte by the Butte Parks and Recreation. Play began in the Civic Center Annex in October 2015 and continued through March of 2016. The league was such a success that a second session was allowed with play continuing through June 30, 2016.

In the spring of 2016 play began outside at the Whittier courts as the weather permitted and also continued at the Civic Center allowing for more play times.

In late July of 2016 two courts were setup at Father Sheehan Park and play began here.

In the summer of 2019 four courts became available at Stodden Park next to the water park.
